I think it’s important that I stress that being in the roleplay community is not about being popular. It’s not about having a thousand followers. It’s not about being able to please everyone. It’s not about having every single person like you. It’s not about being the best roleplayer of [insert character genre/show here].
Roleplay is essentially about having fun. It’s about communicating positively with your partners and potential partners. It’s about being good at what you feel you’re good at, and trying to improve where you want to improve.
Take a step back and take a moment to look at what you enjoy and just do it. Don’t let what other people tell you, discourage you from having fun and don’t try to impress others by doing things you are not comfortable doing.
Someone has told you they don’t like your character. So? They’re not the partner for you then, are they?
Someone says that your writing skills are terrible. So? They’re not the partner for you then, are they?
Someone has mentioned that you just suck at roleplay. So? They’re not the partner for you then, are they?
If someone is being negative to you about your roleplaying abilities, your character, your writing or just you in general, get away from that. There is absolutely no reason that you should stick around such a person or # of persons if they’re acting rude.
